Social Negotiation, Conflict Resolution and Civic Responsibility
DATE: JUNE 4, 2026 @ 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM
LOCATION: LAB SCHOOL CAMPUS
COST: $125/person
This presentation examines how social negotiation and conflict resolution support the development of civic responsibility within early childhood and elementary learning environments. Grounded in relationship-based and inquiry-driven practices, participants will explore strategies that help children navigate disagreements, communicate perspectives, collaborate with peers, and participate meaningfully in their community. Through reflective discussion and practical examples, educators will consider how democratic classroom practices foster empathy, accountability, problem-solving, and respect for diverse viewpoints. The session emphasizes the role of educators in creating environments where children learn to negotiate social challenges, contribute to collective decision-making, and develop the foundational skills necessary for active and responsible citizenship.

Classroom Environments that Promote Creativity
DATE: JUNE 18, 2026 @ 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM
LOCATION: LAB SCHOOL CAMPUS
COST: $125/person
This presentation explores how thoughtfully designed classroom environments can inspire creativity, inquiry, collaboration, and meaningful learning experiences for children. Grounded in the Reggio Emilia philosophy and the concept of the environment as the “third teacher,” the session examines how space, materials, organization, and aesthetics influence children’s thinking, engagement, and sense of belonging. Participants will explore strategies for creating responsive learning environments that encourage exploration, problem-solving, communication, and imaginative expression. The session highlights the intentional use of open-ended materials, natural elements, documentation, and flexible spaces that invite children to investigate ideas, construct knowledge, and express their creativity in diverse ways. Educators will reflect on how classroom environments can serve as active partners in learning, fostering curiosity, independence, and collaborative discovery.
